Loving Your Graynz For A Lifetime
Thank you for purchasing your custom handmade board from us (or for coming to us for our how-to!)
It is truly a labor of love for Brian and I to handmake this piece of artwork for your home. We take pride in pulling out the natural beauty that God Created in these intricate graynz. We never use any stains or dyes and certainly, all wood is in its natural form. Even the finishing conditioner used to raise those graynz is 100 % food safe and natural, homecooked and prepared by us, containing only beeswax and food-safe mineral oil. You may notice that there are a few knots or what appears to be a flaw, that is because each board is truly unique and as Mother Nature fashioned it, not one item is mass-produced or fabricated artificially.
We embrace those that some would call an imperfection to make each creation an absolute one of a kind.
Care How-To Guide
Caring for your board is very important to keep it looking fabulous for many years to come. Below I will share some tips for caring for this natural wood so that you may enjoy it for a lifetime.
For regular usage, wash only with a mild soap and water. (Note some soaps such as Dawn are made to fight grease and might dry your board more quickly.)
Let your board air dry completely before storing it away in a cabinet where moister can collect.
DO NOT put your board in the dishwasher.
In times of use that require deeper cleaning, like raw chicken cutting, you may use a diluted solution with bleach. Following with washing with mild soap, a full air dry then treat your board with conditioner to replace those natural oils removed by the bleach and protect your board from drying or eventual cracking.
How and When to Condition Your Board
Periodic treatment of conditioner may be needed as determined by the amount of usage. You may see the colors in the woods start to fade or dull. That is a sign that it is time to show it some love.
Applying the conditioner is quite easy. Make sure the board is completely dry. Take a small amount of conditioner on a paper towel or cloth and gently rub in a circular motion. Allow it to sit and soak in for a few minutes, after, use a dry cloth to polish away the excess.
You may notice over time the colors in your wood may darken or get deeper, this is absolutely a natural aging occurrence and I even think that it adds beauty and character.
It is our hope that you love and cherish your board as much as we did making it. Hopefully, it will be an heirloom to pass down for ages. Feel free to contact us at any time with any questions you may have or if there is any problem with your board. We are always happy to hear from our receivers of our artistry.
Thank You!
